Clay County Extension will be hosting a series of workshops dealing with apples and other fruit plants. The series will begin with an apple tree pruning workshop to be held on Friday, March 6, 1:00, in the lot between the Methodist cemetery and Ivie Funeral Home. Pruning education and a demonstration will be provided as well as a hands on opportunity for class participants. There is no fee for this workshop.
A Planting & Plant Care workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 12:00 p.m., in conjunction with the Extension Plant Sale. This session will pertain to planting methods, soil fertility, and general maintenance of newly planted plants. There is no fee nor purchase requirement to attend this workshop.
An apple tree grafting workshop will be held on Friday, March 13, 9:00 a.m., at the Clay County Extension office. Participants will be taught the purpose and technique of grafting and will also have the opportunity to graft up to 5 trees on their own. There will be a $15/person fee for this workshop.
