There will be a Beef Quality Assurance Certification program held on Thursday, August 17, 7:00-10:00 a.m. at the Brasstown Community Civic Center. The BQA program consists of educational sessions dealing with feeds, feed additives & medications, record keeping, handling, hauling and husbandry practices. The certification will also help producers receive a premium for selling cattle, particularly at graded cattle sales. Cattle buyers are continually looking to purchase cattle from producers who have received training from programs such as this to ensure the high quality of animals they are seeking.
The program was developed and is coordinated by the NC Cattlemen’s Association. The cost of the certification is $15 for NC Cattlemen’s Association members and $40 for non-members, which will include a 1-year membership. Preregistration is required in order to attend the training. If you are interested, please contact the N. C. Cooperative Extension Clay County Center at 389-6305.
