N.C. Cooperative Extension of Yancey County has scheduled fall “X” and “V” recertification classes for Private Pesticide Applicators. These classes are offered for any NC Private Pesticide Applicators needing “X-specialty” or “V-safety” recertification credits. Just as a reminder, NC Private Pesticide Applicators are those applying pesticides on their own farms. To maintain certification, these applicators must obtain 2.0 hours of “X” and 2.0 hours of “V” credits during each three year certification period.

  • The“X” credit recertification class will take place on Tuesday, August 16 starting at 6 p.m., at the Yancey County Senior Center which is located at 503 Medical Campus Drive in Burnsville.
  • The V” credit recertification class is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 23 starting at 6 p.m., also at the Yancey County Senior Center located at 503 Medical Campus Drive in Burnsville.

This will be the last opportunity offered in Yancey County this year for private pesticide applicators whose certification is scheduled to expire as of December 2022. Yancey County private pesticide applicators that need to obtain credits prior to September 30, 2022 will need to attend the upcoming training, or attend a future training in a neighboring county, or plan to re-test.

If you would like more information about the upcoming “X” and/or “V” recertification trainings, or to register contact David Davis (david_davis@ncsu.edu), Yancey County Pesticide Education  Program Coordinator at the Yancey County Extension Center by calling 828-682-6186.
