McDowell Moves 2022 logoN.C. Cooperative Extension wants people to move. It’s good for your physical and mental health. McDowell Moves 2022 is a walking/hiking event on October 15, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at a trail, greenway, or neighborhood street near you.

The event is organized by McDowell Trails Association, AARP Mountain Region, and Corpening Memorial YMCA, in cooperation with the McDowell Senior Center, West Marion Community Forum, Marion East Community Forum, Old Fort Community Forum, People on the Move, Centro Unido Latino Americano, Lake James State Park, Marion Business Association, and the McDowell Chamber of Commerce to promote an active lifestyle and the many trails and outdoor amenities in McDowell.

Hike a trail, walk downtown, or just down the block, anywhere in McDowell is fair game. It’s not a race, but it is FREE, FUN, and EASY. This special event is meant to celebrate and encourage our community coming together and being active.

Organizers encourage people to bring your family, friends, or just yourself for this community-building activity. There will be guided trail hikes in Marion, Old Fort and Lake James, or you can go your own way downtown, or in your neighborhood. The list of guided hikes with times is provided online at McDowell Trails Association. Your walk, your way.

Visit the McDowell Trails Association McDowell Moves 2022 to register and the see walk schedules. Hope to see you out there, moving!! Psst…the first 200 adults (16+) registered will receive a FREE tee.
