As the holiday season approaches, the Clay County 4-H Program hosted a festive and
hands-on DIY Snow Globe Crafting Day, inviting local youth to tap into their creativity and make their very own holiday decorations. The event provided a unique opportunity for participants to create personalized snow globes while enjoying the spirit of the season.
Participants were given a variety of plaster ornaments to choose from, each secured to the bottom of a snow globe. With plenty of room for self-expression, attendees painted their ornaments however they wished. While waiting for the paint to dry, they enjoyed cheerful holiday music and festive snacks, creating a warm, community atmosphere.
Once the ornaments were dry, each was sealed with a protective spray, allowing the
participant to add their chosen decorations to the water and baby oil mixture. Glitter,
snowflakes, and fake snow were available for those who wanted to add a little sparkle or match their holiday color scheme. Some went for an elegant all-white snow effect, while others chose vibrant reds and greens to match their painted designs.
The goal of this event was to spark interest in crafting and provide a fun, creative outlet for local youth. It was a day full of laughter, hands-on learning, and memories in the making. Based on the success of the Snow Globe Crafting Day, the 4-H Program is excited to announce plans for a larger holiday crafting workshop next season, featuring projects like handmade gifts, snowman building, and holiday cookie baking.
The Clay County 4-H Program is dedicated to providing educational and creative
opportunities for local youth, and what better way to do that than by hosting a fun-filled day of crafting and holiday cheer!
