Tractors once again took center stage in downtown Hayesville on Saturday, September 27, for the 19th annual Ag Day & Tractor Parade. Despite damp weather, the event drew a strong crowd eager to celebrate Clay County’s agricultural traditions.

The event, hosted by Clay County Extension and Clay County Tractor Club, highlights local agriculture and its importance to the community. “Events like Ag Day highlight the importance of supporting our local farms and businesses. Every jar of honey or plant sold here tells a story of the families who keep agriculture thriving in our county,” said Agriculture Agent, Tyler Osborn, “At the same time, we have the opportunity to support the Tractor Club’s scholarship fund, helping give back to the community.”

Visitors enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the day. Local vendors showcased agricultural products such as honey, cheese, and crafts, while Clay County 4-H clubs offered baked goods and displayed their animal projects. Information booths highlighted available agricultural services, giving residents the chance to learn more about the resources supporting local farms. "Seeing our 4-H youth showcase their projects alongside local farmers reminds us that agriculture is not only part of our past but also our future here in Clay County,” said Kim Terrell, Clay County Extension Director.

Organizers noted that the event continues to grow each year, with new activities added to engage both longtime supporters and first-time visitors. The combination of community pride, local products, and the unmistakable charm of the tractor parade has made Ag Day a fall tradition in Clay County.

As the event wrapped up, anticipation was already building for next year’s milestone celebration. The 20th annual Ag Day & Tractor Parade promises to be an even bigger gathering as Clay County marks two decades of honoring its agricultural heritage.
