Hayesville High Nutrition Class Learns About Canning

(Updated: March 31, 2022, 6:33 a.m.)

Kim Terrell, Family and Consumer Science Agent, recently visited with the Foods II classes at Hayesville High School to discuss the history of food preservation.  Students were able to have a hands-on experience by making grape jelly in a water bath canner and strawberry freezer jam from fresh strawberries.  According to Mrs. Lovingood, the students were very proud of their jam and jelly.  Kim is planning a variety of food preservation classes to be held later this summer.  If you are interested or would like more information about food preservation please contact Kim.
