About Us

Downtown Discovery Garden

The Extension Master Gardeners connect people with the benefits of consumer horticulture through research-based information, educational programming, and community outreach. We are a volunteer organization under the auspices of the County Extension Office. Master Gardeners share their knowledge to help North Carolinians cultivate healthy plants, landscapes, ecosystems, and communities.

Programs we support in Clay County include:

  • The Downtown Discovery Garden designed to delight and inspire you with a large garden filled with a variety of plants open to the viewing public.
  • Community Garden Projects including the Mayor’s Garden, Brasstown Community Center and others Grants to local organizations and food banks.
  • After school program for local children.
  • Educational speakers for members and the general public.
  • Spring Plant Sale May 3-5, 2024.
  • Advice to homeowners and businesses on landscaping, plants and pests.
  • 13-week class to become a certified Master Gardener.
