The N.C. Cooperative Extension – Clay County Center is pleased to introduce the 2025
class of Master Gardener Interns. This dedicated group has embarked on a
comprehensive 15-week training program covering essential topics such as soil
science, plant diseases, insect management, fruit cultivation, and botany.

Upon completion of the course, these interns will undertake 40 hours of volunteer
service within a year, applying their knowledge to benefit the local community. Their
contributions will support various initiatives, including the Downtown Discovery Garden, demonstration projects at the Mayor’s Garden, and educational programs for residents.

The Master Gardener program aims to enhance gardening practices and promote
sustainable horticulture in Clay County. Community members are encouraged to
engage with the interns during upcoming events and workshops.

For more information on the Extension Master Gardener program or to participate in
future training sessions, please contact the Clay County Center at (828) 389-6305 or
