Nutrition Classes at Hayesville Schools

(Updated: April 30, 2024, 11:07 a.m.)

Kim Terrell, FCS Agent, recently visited the Foods and Nutrition classes at Hayesville High School to teach the students about basic canning principles and the art of jelly making.  Students prepared grape jelly and were able to take a jar home to share with family and friends.

Kim Terrell, FCS Agent, will be teaching Kids Club, a nutrition and fitness program, to students in the Discovery Afterschool program for a 3rd year.  The students love learning about healthy foods and making their bodies stronger.  They get to participate in a physical activity, taste new foods and take home incentives such as water bottles, pencils, stickers, beach balls and frisbees.  Kids Club is part of the N.C. Cooperative Extension's Steps to Health program.
