Once again Clay County Extension will be offering fruit plants for sale for the 2017 Spring planting season. The funds from the plant sale go toward enhancing educational programs offered by Extension throughout the year. Plant orders will be taken beginning Monday, February 13th until March 24. In order to keep the prices low, a prepayment of all orders is required. Plants will arrive for pick up on Wednesday, April 5, 12:00 noon. A Plant Care Workshop will also be offered at 12:00 noon on April 5, to provide information and techniques for proper planting and maintenance of fruit plants.

Plants for sale include varieties of apples, peaches, pears, cherries, plums, blackberry, raspberry, blueberries, strawberries and grapes. This year there will be a variety of local heirloom apple trees for sale that are 2 years old. Plant varieties are selected according to what is best suited for Clay County and many for their disease tolerance.

The Clay County Cooperative Extension office is located in the Community Services Building (former Health Dept Building) at 25 Riverside Circle Hayesville, NC 28904. Please stop by or call (828-389-6305) to place your order.
